Most pregnancies are low-risk or uncomplicated. However, some may begin as high-risk or convert into high-risk pregnancy where there is higher risk to mother or baby as compared to an uncomplicated pregnancy. If the mother is already suffering from certain medical conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, or uncontrolled blood sugars, then her pregnancy is high-risk pregnancy. Other times, some new development in pregnancy can make it high-risk requiring expert medical vigilance and care.
